Monitor room utilisation for better office space management

Instant room occupancy updates

The room sensors send an instant update when room occupancy is detected. You can configure ongoing occupancy updates every 10 minutes to 5 hours to maximise battery life.

Accurate, reliable workspace monitoring

The wide-angle, 360-degree radius PIR motion sensors detect passive infrared radiation (PIR) emitted by a person, so no interference from glass reflections. No cameras. Fully anonymous.

Real-time local or cloud data

Data can be sent securely to a local network or the cloud — via Ethernet, LTE (4G) or WiFi through an MQTT broker or ready connections to AWS and Microsoft Azure. No subscriptions or recurring fees.

Room Occupancy Sensor FAQs

How do our room occupancy sensors detect presence?

Pressac’s room occupancy sensors use passive infrared (PIR) technology to detect motion. They sense changes in infrared radiation within a 360-degree field of view, typically covering a 6-meter diameter area when mounted on a 2.5-meter-high ceiling. Upon detecting movement, the sensor immediately sends a wireless signal indicating presence.

How are our room occupancy sensors installed?

Our room occupancy sensors are designed for easy installation. They can be mounted on the ceiling using the provided screws for permanent installation or sticky pads for temporary setups. Proper positioning ensures optimal detection, with the primary detection zone offering the most accurate sensing.

Do our room occupancy sensors require calibration?

No. Our room presence sensors are pre-configured to detect motion out of the box. However, users can configure settings such as absence timeout and repeat telegram intervals using Pressac’s ProComm software.

What is the battery life of our room occupancy sensors?

Our sensors are battery-powered with an estimated battery life of over 5 years under typical usage conditions. Battery life can vary based on reporting frequency and environmental factors. A USB-powered variant is also available.

How do our room occupancy sensors transmit data?

Data is transmitted wirelessly using the EnOcean protocol over license-free ISM bands (868 MHz for Europe). The sensors can send data to a local network or cloud platforms via Pressac’s smart gateway, which supports Ethernet, LTE (4G), or WiFi connections.

Can room sensor data be integrated with cloud platforms?

Yes, data from our room occupancy sensors can be integrated with various cloud platforms. The smart gateway publishes data in JSON format using MQTT protocol, allowing integration with platforms like AWS, Microsoft Azure, IBM Watson IoT, Google Sheets, or Node-RED applications.

Can I adjust the reporting frequency of the room sensors?

Yes, the reporting frequency is configurable. Users can set the interval for repeat occupancy telegrams between 10 minutes and 5 hours to balance data granularity and battery life. These settings can be adjusted using the ProComm software.

What is the ‘absence timeout’ on a room occupancy sensor?

The absence timeout is the period the sensor waits after the last detected movement before sending an "absence" signal. This duration is configurable between 2 and 60 minutes, allowing customization based on room usage patterns.

Do our room sensors support secure communication?

Yes, our sensors support secure communication. When secure mode is activated, all device communications are encrypted using AES-128 encryption. Users can toggle secure mode by pressing the sensor's button for at least 10 seconds.

Are our room sensors GDPR compliant?

Yes, our room occupancy sensors are designed with privacy in mind. They do not capture images or personal data, ensuring anonymity. The company adheres to the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, implementing appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect data.

Are there any ongoing costs with our room occupancy sensors?

No, there are no ongoing costs associated with using our room occupancy sensors. Users have full control over their data and can access it through their chosen platform without any additional fees.

How do our room occupancy sensors work?

Our occupancy sensor technology is system agnostic, meaning the data from our sensors can be used in any way you need and can be easily accessed and integrated in near real-time.
