How our current monitoring sensors work

Our wireless current sensors (CT) measure the alternating current (AC) and report the average of 5 measurements every 30 seconds. They can easily be fitted inside a machinery panel, distribution panel or other suitable location. They simply clip around single-phase or three-phase cables, so there’s no interruption to electrical supply.

Single channel clamps measure the electrical current flowing in a single phase, while three channel clamps measure current in 3-phase. Normally you will find single-phase systems in, for instance, households and office buildings. In the industry and for heavier machines, three-phase electric power is typically used.

  • Sensors measure AC current (50Hz or 60Hz). Reports average of 5 measurements every 30 seconds
  • One channel (single-phase) or three channel (3-phase) sensors
    • One channel measurement ranges:
      1A–60A (accuracy +/- 0.1A or 2%, whichever is greater)
      2A–200A (accuracy +/- 0.1A or 2.5%, whichever is greater)
    • Three channels measurement ranges:
      1A–60A (accuracy +/- 0.1A or 2%, whichever is greater)
      2A–200A (accuracy +/- 0.1A or 2.5%, whichever is greater)
      2A-600A (accuracy +/- 1A or 3%, whichever is greater)
  • Self-powered using ultra-low energy from the measured conductor, so there’s no need for batteries or wiring
  • Clamps simply clip around cables with no interruption to electrical supply. The wireless transmitter attaches outside the panel for reliable wireless data transmission
  • Transmit data wirelessly and securely – using AES-128 encryption –
    via EnOcean wireless protocol, which uses internationally
    approved, licence-free ISM bands:

    • 868 MHz for Europe (RED)
    • 902 MHz for North America (FCC) and Canada (IC)
    • 928 MHz for Japan (ARIB specification)
  • Manufactured in the UK to high-quality and high-safety specifications, they are subject to rigorous testing procedures.
