In typical building conditions, where there are no obstructions causing screening, EnOcean devices will normally interoperate at a range of 30m line of sight (LoS).

Typically, in a building, there are a number of factors, which can reduce this LoS range further.

Material reduction vs. LoS


Wood, Drywall, Glass (uncoated with no metal)


Brick, Plaster Board


Metal, Concrete, Mirrors


Furthermore, the angle at which radio waves penetrate obstructions also has a greater or lesser effect on signal quality. Where an obstacle to transmission is present, the signal should propagate perpendicular to the obstruction for best results.
