Matrix Booking integrates smart sensors into software to offer an end-to-end workspace management solution

Matrix Booking integrated Pressac’s Underdesk PIR sensors into its software to offer a full end-to-end service, optimising their clients’ workspace management using real-time data.

 

Background

Award-winning, secure and specifically designed to be quick and easy to implement and use, Matrix Booking is a state-of-the-art workplace and visitor management software tool. The solution is used across the globe by organisations of all shapes and sizes to book meeting rooms, desks and more.

The intuitive software also provides a seamless visitor management experience and cross-organisational functionality, is available to download via the App Store and Google Play for booking on-the-go, provides web access and integrates with Office365.

The challenge

A big opportunity with the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) meant Matrix Booking required a smart sensor partner, to integrate occupancy sensors with their award-winning software.

BEIS were looking to move away from fixed-desk working to a more agile way of managing workspaces and meeting room booking, and wanted to produce advanced reports on the way they used their space.

To do this, they planned to collect and integrate real-time desk utilisation data in the Matrix Booking system and have the Matrix Booking team to manage the full solution – hardware, software, installation and maintenance.How our desk occupancy sensors work

The solution

Pressac ticked all the boxes in their hardware partner wishlist. Manufacturing in the UK, with high-quality products and competitive price.

Our desk occupancy sensors are easily deployed, with no permanent cabling, small and discreet with long battery life and offer a highly scalable solution – also factors which appealed to Matrix Booking. And finally, our encrypted comms also impressed them.

Using Pressac’s smart gateway, Matrix Booking has been able to easily collect the data and, using MQTT, send it directly into AWS cloud-hosted servers.

The end-to-end solution moved seamlessly from sensor radio planning, range testing and installation, to configuration and ongoing maintenance.

Working closely with our technical team, they made sure the sensors were set up optimally and signals received correctly.

The results

The sensors collect real-time space utilisation data into Matrix Booking, so it can auto check-in and cancel bookings, show free space (and mark as occupied accordingly) and post-occupancy analytics.

Matrix Booking is perfectly positioned to support the post-COVID-19 world, as workspace management becomes an integral part of business operations. Their product will help organisations to control and limit space usage, receive breached threshold alerts and reporting for compliance and sanitising.
